Rhys' teachers' day gifts...

So fast... 1 year liao...
Dun really know what to give. Ended up with 2 choices... Post-it pads or notebooks.
Wanted to use my new toy, Zutter for this so only limited to this 2 choices.

At first, wanted to do notebooks but the tot of cutting all the blank papers for the book itself already puts me off.
Plus I am not sure if I have enuff time to complete 12 notebooks in such a short time!

And ta-dah! The mighty help from SB club had saved me once again!
One mummy suggested to buy those memo pads that are already pre-cut for the notebooks. And wah lah... settled.

The next few days was spent cutting, sticking and stamping. Glad that it turns out ok lah. Hope the teachers will like it lor...

Hmm... nothing new used here except for my Zutter of coz. Got to use the chipboards which I bot long ago by mistake and my new stamps!

Die! Next year do what?? sigh...

{ LO#14 - Family }

Finally completed this LO. I think I have started this LO since July? Actually already completed everything by then but left the journaling which I told hubby to think.
This guy simply put it on hold or say no inspiration and so this LO has been lying on my scrap desk for SOO.. long....

Until I cannot take it anymore, decided to put in my lousy english instead of waiting for him.

Like this LO a lot coz the color combi is something different.
I must admit this is a scrap-lift from a mag but still i like it. hee...

Got to use my brand new stamp (I love it!!!) and my new punch!

"Our first photoshoot as a '2+1' family. Was a tiring task coz need to constantly keep Rhys interested and happie! But it was fun too! And I just love the photos we took.... (when can we try that again?)"

{ LO#13 - Samuel }

Today is public holiday so ended up at home in the day.
When Rhys took his nap, I started to find something to do.
I do have a lot of things to do but most impt one? A small little present for Samuel's bdae coming soon.

Actually wanted to do a shadowbox for him ever since I saw his photos from his photography session. But after printing out the photo, no mojo.

Only until now, I have decided to complete it. As the shadowbox is 9x9", I try to make the LO as simple as possible and the focus should be on the photograph instead.

The interesting part of this LO is that I get to FINALLY do some detail cutting withOUT banging my head against the wall. Reason: A super expensive small scissors by Carl.
It worked miracle and there I have, my 2 beautiful butterflies!
To add some interest in it, I have sticked the bigger butterfly on the LO in the shadowbox and the smaller butterfly is sticked to the glass panel of the shadowbox.

Last part is easy coz I have done it before. Stamp some swirls in the glass panel for deco and adding thickers for his name.
Wahla, completed just in time when Rhys woke up from his nap.
The timing is perfect!
Now just got to hope that Simon, Jane and Samuel will love this small little gift from my heart.

{ Album#01 - Perfect Papa }

Yeah! I made it! hee... my very 1st mini scrapbook album.
I made this specially for the birthday of the man I love so much.

Always wanted to make an album but too lazy to start.
This time, in less than 5 days, I decided to make one for hubby's birthday (8 Aug).

Started off slow, just picking the right photos to include already took 1+ day.
Then need to choose the right paper based on their colors.
And the biggest challenge of the album is to deco on the acrylic cover.
Most ppl just use the acrylic cover as protection so no need to deco, but I liked the transparency of it so wanted to do something different.
Aiyo... first thing is how to glue pp on acrylic without seeing the glue marks.
I had to use glossy accents to stick but it was so ugly. Ended up got to put "pearls" one by one to cover up. Hmm... turn out acceptable lah.

It was fun. I get to play with Zutter, my new toy and that sense of achievement after completing the album was GREAT! Oh, the box that contains the album is made by following a template of a gift box. Heng never throw away... I cannot imagine that it is just the right size for the album.

Although in the end, i can't finished it in time on his bdae but managed to give him the next day.
So glad that he likes it.

Hmm... what is the next album project??

{ LO#12 - Father & Son }

This is for Moments Recorded Challenge #08.
The challenge sounds quite fun so decided to give it a try. Has been some time since I last participated in MR Challenge.
The challenge is that we are not supposed to use any pattern papers (for once, no nid to choose paper like siao...) except for 1 cardstock as base.
Then must use rub-ons (which I never use before!), stickers and stamping (just nice, I just bot quite a few ink pads)...
Maybe becoz there is no nid to pick pattern paper to coordinate, so I actually managed to complete this LO within a day... hee... so happy.
On top of that, I get to play with my new stash...
- Used my BN Grid stamp from Unity Stamp. Like the effect a lot.
Actually this one got some error lah. I wanted to do clear embossing for the grid so used the watermark ink first but ended up too slow and so decided to stamp my BN Staz-on timber brown ink instead and applied my BN Super fine clear embossing powder. Nice effect!

- Used my favorite swirl stamps and also added some dewdrops for highlighting. Love it!!!

- Used my new Heidi Swapp giant flowers. Looks just nice!

- Used rub-ons which I never used before. Wow... I loved it! So easy and my Basic Grey rub-on applicator works so well!!! I am going to get MORE RUB-ONS!!!!

{ LO#11 - Liyang & Lifen (Shadowbox) }

Finally completed my 1st project, a shadow box for my good friends, Liyang and Lifen.
Always wanted to try out different types of project besides normal flat LO so when Liyang got married, 1st thing I thot of is to do up a shadowbox for them as a wedding gift.
Unfortunately, I delayed for so long just to ask Liyang for some nice pix.
And right after receiving their photos, realized that they are all so pretty!
Which one to choose?? Aiyo...
Finally decided to use more than one pix coz they are too pretty to exclude them..
Then came the problem of arranging them coz they are too many.

After deciding on the photos, the main colors are confirmed.
All along wanted to use the "Man and Woman" signs, inspired by Ming's.
But realized that it is SOOOO difficult to make the dress for the woman.
Love the final look of it... hee... and so happy that I have the same color ribbon for the dress just like what Lifen has wore in the photos.
Well, the man was also difficult. At first used a ribbon as a tie like what Ming did but hubby say machiam like hanging the man like that... so in the end, decided to use buttons as eh... buttons...
Turn out ok to me... at least dun look like hanging can liao... hee....

Oh, btw, the names are actually foamies which I die-cut out.
I also coated it with Stickles which looked much nicer. Too bad that it is not caught by the camera.

One of the surprising part of this project is that I got to try out stamping using Staz-on Opaque ink on GLASS! At first tried on transparencies and it looked completely mesmerizing!!!
A bit disappointed though when the pink ink turn out to be much darker compared to stamping on transparencies...
Still, I am happy coz now I know the wonderful effect of stamping opaque ink on clear surfaces. And I got to use the expensive Prima Bulid-A-Swirl stamp set. Was actually a bit regretted after buying it coz it is quite ex but now, so glad that I bot it... so pretti!!!

Now I can finally work on other LOs liao... stuck on this project for so long...
Hope that Liyang and Lifen will like this wedding gift with love....

{ LO#10 - "Mama, I want to be PINK ranger!"

Yeah! I actually managed to do another LO within this month... hee... So proud of myself...
I really love these photos of Rhys and ShianQing posing as Power Rangers... therefore I told myself that die die also MUST scrap for these photos.

As there are quite a few photos and I simply refused to reject any of them, I did have some problems trying to position them but in the end, set for the filmstrip concept.
I am quite happy with the look of the filmstrip after some practices done with the puncher.
Initially I was a bit regretful on buying the puncher from Justina coz I am thinking of getting the Zutter which can also punch holes like that. But now, after using it, not too bad lah...

The details on the title took me the most time and effort for this LO coz all are cut out by QK dies and my cuttlebug. Had some problems cutting them using cuttlebug as it was not clean cut at first. After several try out, finally got it to work. Was quite happy with the outcome.
Lastly is the embellishments. Can't find anything suitable except for the brad stars but still felt that something is missing... hmm... what do you all think??

{ LO#09 - Believe In Dreams }

This is the 1st time I have completed a LO within a few hours... haa... Coz the paper already so pretty on its own.
Actually I was supposed to look for pp for the "Power ranger" LO but as I am flipping thru my paper stash, saw this pp from Urban Lily... and decided to skip the existing LO and start on this instead.

The photo that I chose for this LO is also a little significant as it is the only picture we took when he is 1 month old. Sigh. So kinda happy that I am able do a LO specially for that pix...

The cutting of the flower is easy but the "y" of the "boy" is so fragile. Even though I am using the finger knife, I still cannot cut well. Some part ended up too thin, one even broke (I stick it back after that).
Then I wanted to try out something new which is using the glossy accent to make the word "boy" pop up with a difference...
Aiyo... Nightmare!! The glue just overflow from the word as I apply. sigh... must practise more.... The effect is still ok but definitely can be much better...

Overall, I am very glad that I bot this pp. It allows me to do up another LO in the shortest time and yet still look not too bad. So happy... but I must try out the glossy accents again... this time on a much easier font... hee...

{ LO#08 - An Endearing Moment }

This month's Moments Recorded Challenge is on Mini Album but I not good at that. So want to at least complete my LO of the month first.
I liked this particular photo very much so I printed it out some time back but din get the chance to scrap it. So it is pretty obvious that my next LO is for this photo.
On top of that, I have seen an LO from a magazine where the person concentrate of the only picture in the middle and kept everything else plain and simple. I really like that effect so intend to scraplift it.
But after picking my base pattern paper (the embossed black pp), I can't find any simple suitable paper to match the black. Adding to that, I realized that I also dun have many border designs stamps. After I finally decided that I can use the Autumn Leaves' On The Edge stamp set, I realized that I dun have nice ink color on black!!!
Finally today, after reaching home early, decided to one shot complete this LO...
Tried out the embossing powders I have and the silver embossing for the border stamps turns out to be not bad after all... (Hmm.. although I could have "clean" up the fine embossing powder to prevent "dust-like" patches ard the actual stamp image).

Then came the problem with which pp to use for the matting of the photo. Only after much try and error, found that the DCWV Luxury stack matches the silvery color. And it looked great!

And I get to use my new Verve stamps which I really liked a lot for the "You're a DREAM COME true"... Hopefully I can use them again soon....

Well, lastly, is the journaling portion... my english not that powerful lah.. so ask my ah lao to contribute lor... so long long essay shorten till this ....

{ LO#07 - Swweeet... }

Yeah... finally completed another LO...
This time the MR challenge so difficult...
Must use the sketch provided somemore...

Aiyo... headache...
First dun know which photo to use...
Then simply just can get the embellishment right... esp. the journaling on the left.
So even though i started quite early of the month, it was just laid there on my desk for so long!!!
Finally the last day of the month liao lah... deadline reached liao... then die die trying to finish this...

Luckily, I received the AL Round and Round stamps from Felicia just recently... (a long wait...).
Saw the example they had and I decided to scraplift it.
Was fun stamping the same image twice and layered them... love the effect of it.

Oh... and the most important thing of all...
I FINALLY USED SOMETHING FROM MY SCARLET LIME KITS!!!!
Woohoo!!!!
Imagine, holding on to 4 months of kits since Sept until now... none is used before...
Aiyo... this is the first time I took out papers, embellishments from the Sept 08 kit!!!
So happie!!!

{ LO#06 - First Month }

Moments Recorded started their 2nd challenge liao...
Was so busy these period that I dun think i can make it in time for this challenge
and only until yesterday then I can start on something...

Was stuck at first on what to scrap as the theme is on "FIRST".
So many photo to choose and finally decided to dig out my old developed photos to
see if can use any of them... and true enuff, manage to find small little cut out pix of Rhys' 1st mth... and so my title is set.

The big challenge for me is that it requires me to use up 4 pattern papers which I sux at layering. Then is the use of buttons and stamps.
I just found out that my stamps are so limited... haa... new excuses to buy more...

Talking abt stamps, I made a big boohoo when trying to stamp the date on the "crying" photo.
After trying so many times, and finally done... kept everything and thot it is done....
then realised my photo cannot take the ink at all so it can just be wipe off... sigh...
Wasted my time and as I was going to give up on stamping, I saw this cute like bird from one of my Hero Art mini alpha stamp set.

Decided to just heck care and stamp it in... and viola... I love the cute little birdie!!! Now I understand why ppl have been buying so many birdie stamps... haa...
Aiyo... broke liao lah...

It's also my first time using Thickers! hee... was originally wanted to die cut the title but
the challenge requires chipboard alphas and so gave up on die cuts... and boy am I glad that I did... haa... Thickers are so easy to use and the shimmers on these are so pretty... certainly change the whole look of the LO once it is added. Love it. Time to stock up some more thickers... haa...

Well... finally it is done... although not perfect with the stamps a bit weird, my ugly handwritting and the weird journalling... on the whole, i still quite like it...
Yeah... one more LO completed....
I wonder when can I win a challenge... haa....

{ LO#05 - Unlimited Love }

Yeah... finally completed my very first 12"x12" LO.
Maybe it's becoz of the challenge that I actually din procrastinate much this time...
then again, it still took me a few nights to complete.

Quite like the final look of it. Maybe becoz I really like that pattern paper.
Hee... thanks to Justina that I saw and bot them from her last week.
Just nice for the photos which we recently took after Rhys' concert. Pink.

The difficult part is the journaling and using of 3 pattern paper.
Luckily managed to find matching papers. I actually dun have a lot of pinky papers...

Here are some of the close up pix:

The LOVE is actually acetate clear alpha which I bot very long ago.
Originally wanted to just use it as clear but too plain. Then decided to use pink vellum underneath it but effects wasn't that good. In the end, with a simple polka-dot pattern paper turns out much nicer.
Glue-ing the paper to the acetate was so troublesome.
I used my vellum glue dots but ended up seeing the small little dots thru the clear alpha... Not nice lor... and in between that, some glue got smear and ended up in gray patches... argh...
Could have been better but I really dun know how to get it glued...

This is the first part I did and it took me so long to just paste the little pearls on the pix.
The pearls are actually used for nail art... hee... took me some time to paste them one by one... help to distract ppl from my fat face as well.. haa...

Oh.. finally I got to use my Big Bite to set brads! And I LOVE IT! It's easy and silent! Never regret that buy! Oh and the brads are so pretti!
The pink tag is actually my first Spellbinder dies used too. Too bad I dun have the tan mat for embossing... otherwise can try it out.

Really had a fun time doing this and I realised 12"x12" LO are so much flexible and fun to do.

The ladies in the SMH SB Club have started a challenge (with a very nice blog too...) for all of us who have not been scraping for quite some time...

This makes me so excited coz I really want to do something. Have been buying so much stash and yet not be able to produce anything... so this time, I manage to start off and intended to complete my very first 12x12 LO...

Well... mind is strong but flesh is weak... when reached the late night I am so tired that I cannot even start on the LO... only managed to do up a draft design on Monday. Hopefully tonight can complete it... so exciting... dun think i will win the challenge with the LO i did but at least I did complete an LO... haa... and use my STASH!!

Recently really no output at all...
Want to scrap... but too tired at night...
Want to scrap... but dun know where to start...
Want to scrap... but dun have this dun have that...

Basically all I did these days is just use 10% of my brain to think of an LO...
ended up with nothing done... and 99% of my brain and pocket to buy buy buy SB stuff...

I knew I have been spending a lot lately... just cannot resist...
Now I got loot with ppl... spent so much money and yet haven even seen the stuff yet...

I got so many things in mind to do...
I wanted very much to do an LO on myself but I just realised that ever since Rhys is borned, I dun even have a NICE, decent pretty photo of myself... I even thot of the title for the LO!! Erh... either Phoenix Reborn or Reborned Phoenix... inspired by a stamp from BasicGrey which is a Phoenix... really really love that stamp...

I wanted to do an LO on Rhys' birthday...
an LO on Rhys' recently hospitalisation...
and so many things...

Dun know when can I really sit down and start and COMPLETE on something...
God.. help me!!!!

Rhys' birthday party thank you gift

Rhys' 2nd birthday party coming but din really have anything planned this time round. And since it is going to be at home, if dun have deco at all, quite weird...
so decided to pop by some party shop to get some deco.
In the end, bot 1 super expensive thomas balloon that sings and 2 boxes of cute pens for gifts.

The next challenge was how to present the pens coz if just give like that, is very weird... So after a lot of brainstorming + prototyping... I have decided to make my own packaging...

Completed a total of 35 pieces within 2 days and had lots of fun "revo-ing"...
Really liked the final output...

The big R is using my SPOTLIGHT grand alpha and popular's foam sheets.
They turn out fantastic!! The holes in the letter allows me to tie the ribbon in somemore... Really liked that alpha... no regrets...

The small little "Thank you!" words in the "scroll" is using MOXIE skinnimini alpha which I bot from Cheng. Dun know why I just like that alpha a lot... made me bot the Classic size also... hee...
Anyway, the alpha makes the words so cute and by tilting the letters, makes it casual and bubbly... like it like it like it... hmm... except that it is very tedious sticking these small letters on the card lor... one letter by one letter leh... before that, still got to revo it out... luckily got the 12" platform to make all the letters all at one shot for each scroll... otherwise, can do for 1 week liao...

When the guests saw the gift, can see that they really impressed and liked it a lot... most of them even asked for more... hee... glad that everything i did is all worthwhile...

Oh, forgot to mention that the cardboard is from popular, and the ribbon is from DAISO... cheap and good...

{ LO#04 - Heads Up! }

Wah.. this LO took really long to complete.
I actually did the basics (trimming and positioning of the photos) since 29 July!!!
But was stuck there coz simply cannot think of a good title for it.
Luckily for me, the SMH SB club ladies gave me a hand after I shouted out for help.
And as easy as it is, they suggested the title "Heads Up!" and I loved it.

After that, still stuck coz I dun have any nice alphas to be used as the title coz my LO is 6"by6".
Hate doing 6"x6" coz NO SPACE!!!
Ordered and bot some QK alphas but some not arrived, some too big...

Then finally got bot over by JDA's boss, and bot the Alpha of the month August on 29 August...The AccuCut, Friendz font... it's cute and the cool part of it is that it can cut 3 ways... just the letter, the background and the frame. Although $120 is quite ex but just cannot resist the 3 ways of using the same fonts!! If I buy similar shadow fonts from QK will cost me few hundreds!!!

And after using it on revo, I love it even more!!! :)

Seeing that the LO still very plain, decided to use the Stickles to shimmer it up and glad that I did it... (Thanks to the ladies in the SB club for introducing me the Stickles) I used it to shimmer the plain vellum flower and on the flourish QK....

Love the effects of it...

DIY Teachers' Day Tags...

This is the 1st time giving Teachers' Day gift on behalf of Rhys.
Wanted to DIY something but no time so ended up buying honey pots for the teachers in the childcare center.

Heng, managed to get some cute honey pots (a bit smaller than i thot though) thru a BP in the forum. $4.90 per pot. The organza bags are REALLY nice!
Lastly just need to diy some customised tags for the teachers.
Managed to do a quick one and not too bad lah. Hee... hope they will like them...

New Alpha! Vixen... (limited edition!)

Today took childcare leave to bring Rhys to see doctor AGAIN.
After he slept, hubby say go vivocity to find some shirt. So off we go... hee... at the same time, I want to check out a scrapbook shop in vivo which I read from newspaper.

The shop is called Art Frenzy, right besides Daiso on the top floor.
Nothing much interesting actually coz the shop is more of a craft shop, got a big area for classes such as clay etc.

BUT..... they having some (pretty old) Quickutz dies on 50% discount!!!
hee... and after walking a few rounds... I saw the Vixen!!!
It is the 2006 Xmas limited edition. Consists of Classic Unicase alpha, 2 special xmas dies, icing rubons, a coin pouch (who will use that?) and a lip gloss (erh... 2006 year one leh... who DARE to use?). Paid around $120 for it. Hee... very happy...

and they do have some NICE papers which I liked a lot and bot quite a few as well.

Wah... took me so long to revamp this scrapblog...
Wanted a bigger space to view the blog entry so want to make a brand new template instead of using other people's template.

Sourcing for suitable pictures already took some time...
Luckily managed to find the shabby princess website and downloaded a lot of beautiful images designed specially for digital scrapbooking...
So using some of those, finally got a basic look up...
(A bit still not very satisfied... can be better lor... but dun want to drag anymore...)

Took me some time to change the script also just to make the new customised template work...
too long never touch javascript and css liao... sigh...

Now can start posting again..
got so much to update...
got NEW TOYS!!! and less money...
erh...wait...i want to change the background pix a bit more first... cannot stand it...

Finally got my 2nd-hand revo from Cheng. Hee... Was so excited but unfortunately got no time to play with it. Besides the revo, got the brand new 12"platform and the 2nd-hand Finale alpha from Angie.

Cheng intro me the ClearScraps and I am really impressed. Like the way she used it on her walls so bot 2 for myself too. But dun know when can I put up my own LOs... haa...

{ LO#03 - B is for BOYS... }

Today after bringing Rhys back from school, he met his ah mah, heng heng didi at the lift lobby together with his ah mah's neighbours whose grandson who simply loves to play with Rhys...
Suddenly rem that I have my cam with me so managed to take a few nice shots of Rhys and his "best friend".

After looking at the nice pix, I simply cannot resist sb-ing it. So in a very short time, hmm.. think within 1 hr??, I managed to do up a very simple LO for Rhys' little best friend...

Yeah, 2nd LO done!
I really like this LO. Like the color scheme, like the embellishments and of coz LOVED the photo itself...
Here it is!
Think this LO is slightly better than my 1st... hee... so exciting... want to start on my 3rd LO!!!

Ok, before I go on to my 3rd LO, just to share on some stuff I like...
1. These "cute like a button" ABC plastic "button" tags?
Bot these from a BP in the forum... love it so much, too bad they not selling anymore leh... otherwise sure buy somemore... I even bot a "medicine box" to store them exclusively... cute hor...
2. KI Memories Gossip Hazard Lace Paper
Oh... I LOVE lace paper!! See one buy two... haa.... This is not my favorite design actually but din expect that it becomes my first lace paper to use... hee... not bad!

Yeah, finally completed my very first LO! Whew...
actually I already had the pix pasted in for quite some time but no time to finish it.
So today finally managed to complete it and I quite like the look of it.
Good to have a scrapbooking corner... hee...

So here it is, (click on the pix to see bigger version)

After doing some of the layout, realised that I am stuck on what to put as the main title.
In the end, I just skip it. Just made 2 small "2" to make my journaling a bit different nia.
Well, this is a 6"x6" so a bit limited lah... hopefully can do more next time...

Oh... since it is the first time that I really use my stash, I just want to highlight a few things which I really like...

1. MakingMemories Funky Vintage Clears, Tags & Shapes.
(I simply loves the shapes... I am a "curvy" scrapper... maybe I shld buy a few more packs of these.... anyway, the side embellishment used with the flower in the LO comes from this pack. Nice hor...)2. Glue Dots Vellum
(These are so easy to use and so useful... just peel the paper, stick your paper on it, remove and tada, you have small tiny glue dots on your paper... the cool part is that you can use it on vellum and you can't see a thing! Cool!)
Hmm... got more things to share but will leave it later bah... getting so excited.. woo hoo...

{ My Scrapbooking Corner... }

When I first started on scrapbooking, I find it so difficult to do it coz...

1. When I am at home, my then baby, now naughty toddler, will also be around and needless to say, I cannot do anything at all.
2. I got no space to put/place my scrapbook stuff, esp. so when I have already "stocked" up quite a stash of things. In the end, all ended up kept in a big ikea storage box.
3. Every time I wanted to do something, by the time I get the stuff out and figured out what to do with it, either my son woke up from nap or its late and I got to work the next day...

Of coz, all the above are excuses but it will be much easier for me to start on scrapbooking if some of the issues above are solved.

Well, I cannot expect my son to grow up instantly so the only thing I can think of is to have a space for scrapbooking. All my scrapbook stuff are there when I need it. No need to take out from the box and put back into the box anymore.

So finally, with the blessing from hubby, he can spare up a corner of the study table for me to make a small scrapbooking corner for me. (Thank you darling...)
Here it is...

Well, I have done up this corner within 2 days and even managed to do a quick simple design for my inspiration corkboard... Not too bad lah...

Now, all I am left is my first completed LO!!

{ The beginning of my Scrapbooking Blog }

It is so funny that I have had this love for scrapbooking since dun know when... hmm, probably close to 2 years ago? But the funny part comes in when I have NOTHING, absolutely nothing to show, yes... not even ONE complete layout to show. And that was after almost 2 years of buying papers (ok... not just normal papers but ACID FREE aka very expensive fanciful papers), glue, embellishments, tags, eyelets, brads, tools, you say it, I have it... (ok... maybe not all lah... I still got a die-cut REVOLUTION machine on my wish list... anyone want to buy me as xmas or bdae present? PLSSSSS...)

So finally until today, I have decided that I cannot continue this way any more.
I got to START and COMPLETE something!!

So here I am, trying to motivate myself (actually is I gian lah, when seeing some of my forum friends' blog on their scrapbooking experience so cool...), started off this blog.
Hopefully I can really put this blog in use and got something to share very soon and very often...
